Penn Mat and Timber is a subsidiary of Erie Wood Products. Penn Mat and Timber adds logging, sawmilling, timber processing and erosion control products such as Silt Socks to our product and service resources.
Erie wood products is a leading manufacturer of industrial pallets, skids, custom crates, boxes and custom cut blocking in both hardwood and softwood. We are located in Erie Pa and serve Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and West Virginia. Prior to 2005 we were known as Erie Pallet Co. We have since expanded into all areas of industrial shipping containers, lumber and pallets. We have our own heat treating kiln and ability to treat and certify our products to ISPM 15 standards for export shipping as well as treating and certifying other timbers and wood parts for our customers.
We have automated nailing machines that allow us to be very competitive on large repetitive orders as well as smaller production teams for efficient low cost custom orders. We also have C.A.D. routing capability up to 6' x 14' parts. Because we have our own tractor trailers we can deliver full 50 ft. covered truckloads efficiently and quickly. Our customers are our top priority. All of our expansions and improvements are designed to be able to serve our customers better, faster, with more precision and at the most competitive prices.
We are members of NWPCA and we use the Pallet Design System Engineering Programs and have full access to PDS Design Services. The PDS engineering analysis enables us to assist our customers in optimizing pallet design, reducing costs, reducing product damage, and increasing safety throughout the material handling system.
Our 30,000 square foot plant in Erie allows us to work in safer and cleaner conditions than most of our competitors and store our finished and heat treated products inside prior to shipping, giving our customers cleaner drier finished products. Quality from the tree to the finished products, timely deliveries and the best product and service possible is our goal daily.
We are pleased to quote any of your pallets, skids and custom crating needs including timber mats and pads for drilling rigs and platforms. We will come to your plant to measure items such as machinery to help design shipping skids or crates.
With the addition of Penn Mat and Timber we have added saw mill capability insuring a steady supply of raw materials and allowing us to make more efficient use of the available logs. Another step to allow us to be more competitve and to better serve you. We can convert the logs to 12" x 12" timbers or even larger for heavy timber applications or bring them down to 1/2" thick boards for light duty pallets. Every year we have added additional machinery and equipment to become better able to serve our customers and to remain the most competitive that we can be.
Our main source of raw materials are the dense hardwoods of Northwestern Pennsylvania such as Red Oak, White Oak, Hard Maple, Hickory, Black Cherry, Walnut and other slow growth Northern Hardwoods. These top quality trees provide the strongest mats and industrial products as well as the highest graded lumber available.
Our business has continued to grow during the past several years in spite of a poor economic climate. Hard work, dedication to service and efficiency continues to pay off for us and our customers.
